I have been photographing Jasmine and her family for a few years now, but this photoshoot was for her new growing interior business. Her style is effortless and laid back, but also classy and grown-up. Over the years we have bonded over our love of all the popular interior bloggers: Julia Marcum, Shea McGee, Lauren Liess, Jenny Komenda, and Amber Lewis. But, Jasmine’s house is a beautiful reflexion of a style all her own. And I was super excited when she asked me to shoot some pictures of her house and herself, as well! So, I went over to her house to do a “brand session” last week.
What is “brand photography” you might ask. Well, personal brand photography is photography that centers around professional images that represent entrepreneurs and small business owners to help build awareness of their personal brand and business. These pictures ideally reflect the personal style and personality of the business owner, not just a headshots, so they focus more on storytelling. These photographs will show where you work, your work process and snapshots into your personality and life. Typically a session like this would be designed and planned down to the details of what shots we intend to get and what props are needed.
My thoughts for this session were to get the following pictures: Jasmine working, hanging out in her space, putting a centerpiece on the table, walking up the stairs, flipping through a design book, a traditional headshot and lastly opening her front door/standing in her doorway.

Why you should have a photoshoot for your brand? If you are marketing your business online you need to do a branding photoshoot!
